Depends on the situation/circumstances. Not one weapon is great at everything.

Battle Rifle: AR/AK
Pistol: Glock 19
Shotgun: Remington 870
Long range: Remington 700
Small Game: Ruger 10/22

If I HAD to choose 1 and only 1, it would be my AR.

I am sort of liking this. Maind modeification is I have a M&P15-22 in place of the ruger 10/22 and I dont have a long range rifle yet. My pistal is also the beretta 92 as i find i shoot it more accurate than a glock unless I dr the heck out of the trigger.

A TRUE prepper will not choose 1 or have just 1. Multiple gun types in multiple popular calibers to take advantage of scrounging ammo.

But, then again, how many of YOU have just 1 gun? Before the tragic boating accident, I had >1, now it's ZERO, just a very large stash of ammo.

It is interesting that in this time of "ammo famine" there is still plenty of 270, 7mmRM, 300 wm. 10mm pistol....basically the calibers that are not .22lr,9mm,.45acp,.223,.308 win....
I can't pick just one..maybe Glock 17/19 and 7mmRM built M700 or AK/AR.

+1 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

+ shotguns = not just 12ga. 12 capable of 3 1/2", 3" and 2 3/4"; 3" 20ga; and .410. Also have 16ga and considering a 28ga. Last would be 10ga. Could take advantage of most found ammo and handle most game or defensive situations.

1 gun / weapon beats none, but why limit 1 (Choice of only 1 = 12ga 3 1/2")? If, none = lack of prep and be grateful for whatever you can get (kind of like ammo situation on shelves now); prepared several types in popular calibers (.22lr, .223, .45ACP, .357) and in lesser but readily available calibers (7mmRM, .30-06, what you are seeing the shelves now) and SHOTGUNS, good pellet rifles, knives, machetes, crossbow, wrist rocket, blowgun, a BIG HICKORY STICK. BE PREPARED!

Marlin 60 with the older 18rd capacity. I am not even going to get into the defensive offensive firearms. The Marlin is just for sustainment and such. Sure it could be used for defense or offense. I have others for that.
