Question about older Bushmaster rifle

So the question remains...did Bushhampster ever use Colt barrels or does the OP have a frankenrifle?

I ordered an upper from Bushmaster way back in the day when they were called Quality Parts Company and it came with a Colt barrel, but back then there were not too many others making AR barrels. So it could be a factory upper or a frankengun, no way to tell for sure.

Back in 1987 when I built my first 7.62 x 39 Ar. There was only a couple manufacturers of AR barrels Colt and Olympic arms.
Took a lot of persuading just to get Olympic to turn loose of a barrel extension and it was a flat NO from Colt.
They kept the barrel market cornered for a lot of years and supplied everybody.

Thanks for the all info guys. Factory BMI gun or Mixmaster either way I got a nice rife that I gave to my dad since he has always wanted a A2. I even put a set of Triangle Handguards on it for him so its close to what he had in the Army back in the 70s
