I am retired federal worker and had a retired ID. I went and got my real DL Then I went to get on base, showed my retired ID. The SP said it was cancelled, go to pass and ID. Went there, and they scanned my real DL, and said I was good. Went and got scanned at the gate with my real ID, and they let me enter. So my real DL works to get on any military base. Kind of interesting the way things are going.

Just as an FYI, your SDA card (self defense act ccw) will work as a second form of ID, for getting your real ID. I used my birth certificate and my SDA card to do it a few months ago.
