I was concerned about bullet setback so I looked into it and found that repetitively chambering the same rounds can not only cause setback and possible kaboom, it can definitely cause primer compound separation with a resulting failure to fire. This caused a Georgia police officer's gun to fail at a critical moment. Its in the video: http://youtu.be/5VSfSPuEC6M

There is some truth to the video. I've been guilty of exchanging the top two rounds.

Since I'm at our range a lot, I discharge them on a regular basis though. Amazing how much pocket lint can get in a pocket carry gun even though its in a holster.

Lint is an amazing creature. It seems to be able to move about on its own and nest in the most remote spots.

Welcome to okshooters. Very good video you put together. No absolutes, just food for thought. I cannot dispute nor disagree with any of it. I have always kept an eye on bullet setback but can honestly say primer compound separation never occurred to me.

Thank you.

"...primer compound separation never occurred to me." Same with me. I had never even heard of it until I did research for the video.

If for any reason I unload my semi autos(which isn't very often) I replace the chambered/ejected round back in the gun by
dropping in the chamber then closing the slide then insert the mag.
Self defense ammo is fired and replaced every 2 years have not had FTF.
When shooting for practice I use a different mag or unload the SD mag then reload when finished with
the practice session.
