As always, safety for our members and neighbors at the outdoor range is our primary goal. After discussions with Zink Ranch personnel, effective immediately, the Small Bore Rifle & Pistol Range will be limited to standard velocity .22 rimfire cartridges only. This is due to safety concerns for structures beyond the hill used as a backstop. New signs will be posted at the range soon but the safety concerns are of an immediate nature. If you see others at the range that may not have seen this notice, please ask them to refrain from shooting any centerfire cartridges on this range.

This is the shooting range at the far left, by the BBQ grills and picnic tables, correct? The pistol area to the right of that, on the other side of the shed with the sheets of cardboard, is not affected?

That is correct perplexed.

I was on the benchrest range Wednesday and the ricochets from either the pistol or smallbore range sounded like a B-western lol.

They are shooting centerfire handguns and 1 guy had a 44 levergun shooting at the 22 targets and skipping them over the mountain into Tall chief COE public use area. Had they been utilizing the range properly (Correct guns at correct targets) there would have been no problems.
They were told to stop and apparently didn't. So COE must have called Zink.

They cut off membership a few years ago and had been weeding out the problems.
Then they reopened the membership last year and the troubles starting again.

If they can't read the signs they need to be banned. I was intending to shoot steel with pistols this weekend and had to go to USSA instead.

There is still a plate rack in the pistol range for shooting steel, it’s a shame people abuse it, it’s such a nice range
