if you want small the Sig Romeos are good cheap red dots, I have one on an AR. My first red dot on an AR was a Vortex Strike Fire and I really like it, it is still going strong many years later. Like other said though, I have found over the years spending more like a Trijicon MRO or Aimpoint PRO is worth it to me in the quality and features.

I have no experience with the Sig Romeo 5, or the expensive high quality glass, but the Vortex Strikefire and Holosun have been great for me

I bought a Sig Romeo 5 for 97 bucks and free shipping from Dvor on Monday. You should be looking at Dvor often, they have lots of good stuff at reasonable prices and have items on sale everyday.

Lots of good recommendations on here. You can’t go wrong with any of the Aimpoints. A good alternative that would be in your price range because there are no cheap Aimpoints would be one made by Primary Arms like you mentioned. They are out of Texas and they’re shipping is fast. They make one that is like an Aimpoint micro clone. You need to find the one that has the 50,000 hour run time and the lifetime warranty. I have several and no issues. It’s less than $200. It’s a really good little red dot. I went ahead and looked it up for you
