OK...Here's the results of my first informal bp cartridge session. Pic 1 = 1 7/8 group Ultramax low power 405 gr (smokeless) cowboy load. (for comparison) Pic 2 = 1 3/8 500 gr rn lead Goex Cartridge powder (unknown load) Pic 3 = 1 1/2 405 gr rn lead Goex Cartridge powder (unknown load) Pic 2 has 4 shots (lost count):) The bp cartridges are every bit...if not more... as accurate as the smokeless. I'll have to record some groups of some higher power Federal and Hornady I have in the ammo locker. If memory serves however, they print about like the Ultramax. These are 50 yard bench..not too bad for buckhown sights and an old, straight walled buffalo load. Certainly not up to par with my 308 heavy barrel sniper, but that's a whole other world. I won't show you my 100 yard free hand group, as I am getting old and not so steady, but I did manage to keep them all in the black:) Don't know how my sights got low and right, but I corrected them after testing...didn't want to change in the middle of group testing. I swabbed with Mr. Flintlocks bore cleaner and patch lube after every group, just like I do with my muzzleloaders. Clean up with Mr. flintlocks and a final patch with Ballistol. This bp cartridge stuff is kinda fun! Don't ya just love them big 'ol holes? Those pesky field mice better watch out!
