If she started in 1984 and has over 40 years, she's probably been eligible to retire at her full salary for the last 20 years (story says she's 87 years old). She's essentially been working for free. I would've gone home a long time ago, and I'm guessing you guys would too.

Damn right. I retired when I was 59. Started taking MY money back from the .gov as soon as I could at 62. I wont' really start losing money (as opposed to waiting until age 67) until I'm 79 and 10 months...if I last that long. I'm guessing it won't be a big deal by then.

She either really liked her job, or really liked the money. There is no f'n way I'd work till I'm 87. 45 years was enough for me. I started working at 14 and never went more than a few weeks without at least one job.

Well if i had a job where i could sit in a big padded cushy chair and only work 6 months (or should say show up for work) but get paid for 12 i might could stay at a job til im that age but mine was a fiscal labor in all kinds of weather.
