Man this thread really takes me back. I grew up in the country in the 70s. There was too much blow sand on the roads to ride a bike anywhere but I always had horses to ride off somewhere. I remember dad loading up my bike on Sundays we would go to my grandparents to eat dinner and they had a paved road I could ride on. Not much traffic on it back then so I would ride up and down it trying to run over trantulas while my dad and grandpa slept off sunday dinner. I had four cousins about a half mile from my house the youngest of the four was a year older than me so we hung out alot chopping down trees to build a cabin, BB gun fights, Fishing and frog hunting at night. A couple of times a week during the summer either my mom or his would load us up in the back of the pickup and take us to town where we could swim at the school while they visted with our great grandparents. We would walk to their house after swimming and my great grandpa would be sitting on the porch in the evenings he would still roll his own smokes and throw rocks at the kids who used his dirveway culvert for jumping their bikes off LMAO. He was in his late 80s then and couldnt see to well or throw to well either. I think the neighboorhood kids took it as a challenge. I didnt know it at the time but there were lots of fun times back then!
