I have one of those too, shoots decent, but I don't have a bayonet with mine.
Don't shoot it very often.
I've looked at the bore, even with a bore scope, it has good rifling with no pits or anything bad, but it isn't shiney.

nice looking rifle. Hope you enjoy shooting it. When I buy one and take it apart and clean it up for the first time and start back together with it, I wonder what the person was like that assembled it for the first time.

Bought one years ago, wife shot it and the kick knocked her on her butt.Nice find.
It should be plenty safe to shoot if the pitting isin't super deep.
