smokeyokc - i've looked at your avater a dozen times before and it just dawned on me thats you sitting on your GS... i'm kinda slow i guess. I wanted to head up the coast but decided against it with the heat out there. I'll leave that for another trip. You should totally get the hepco-becker (sp?) engine guards. I know nobody plans on dropping a bike, but these big GS's are kinda clumsy on the slow speeds and i already plopped mine over once. The crash cages worked perfect - the bag didn't even get a scratch! (i stalled it making a super tight left circle playing around and it fell over). I just led a group ride through arkansas this weekend... None of the sportbikes wanted to pass. Ive ridden my ZX10 out there before and chased these other guys and drug peg (using good form, hanging off the bike just like I do at hallet, just with my knee tucked instead of dragging) and they didn't see the need to pass me on the GS. She may not be QUICK, buts shes not SLOW. After procurring a towel, 1/4 of oil, tiedowns, gum, a bag of 6-8 bottles of water, extra shirts and socks, a rain suit, 2nd visor, bag of chips, full set of tools, and a SHARPIE to write someones name on their bottle of water in the bag... my bike got dubbed then affectionate name of "The RV"... lol. Not to mention being able to run GPS, and charge my iphone and someone elses cellphone off my bike while riding... (i've added 2 USB ports onto my bike). And to top it off, she did great running up and down 18deg dirt roads to the ghost town of RUSH AR, and through the water crossings. (although we drug 1 daring sportbike with us too that had the balls to go everywhere i did on the GS). Larry - they make a low seat model... you know you need one in your garage :)
