That Larue has a new rifle barrel that is going to make history..( Gov't contract type ) I heard from a buddy who heard it from his brother that Larue has a new barrel.. This said barrel's ID is not touched or come in contact by the projectile, there by creating an everlasting barrel.. Of course my buddy didn't have any specifics but it sure sounds interesting..

Sounds like a pipe dream unless maybe it’s some type of fin stabilized sabot round whereby the sabot touches the inside of the barrel.

If the round doesn’t touch the barrel how is the gas sealed and the bullet spun (give a traditional bullet)?

I agree, sounds like a sabot round with plastic guides. Rifling will spin the guides, thus spinning the sabot. Due to the plastic being MUCH more forgiving than lead and much, much softer than the barrel, I could see the barrel lasting a "lifetime".
