Sure seems to be contradictions about Russia's abilities and situation, like when we were told their economy was failing, have to wonder if much of the "downgrading" is to convince us it would be easy to go to war against Russia. https://www.defensenews.com/global/europe/2024/05/21/theyve-grown-back-how-russia-surprised-the-west-and-rebuilt-its-force/ As for the question of "boots on the ground", given the fact that we're paying not only defense but also gov. salaries, pensions, and who knows what else while Ukrainians have to be dragged out of party/entertainment venues to defend their own country I say no to that. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13955497/Ukrainian-men-dragged-nightclubs-restaurants-army-recruiters-targeted-raids.html I'm guessing we don't want to talk about to what it would really mean for us to go to a "full out war" the Army War College says there will have to be a draft because of the casualty rates... https://press.armywarcollege.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=3233&context=parameters If we do bring back the draft there will very likely be some big social fallout, first there will be the gender bender issue... https://americanmilitarynews.com/2022/10/biden-admin-trans-women-must-register-for-draft-trans-men-dont-have-to/ Then other "social issues" like can addicts and the mentally ill be drafted? Then there's the issue of women being drafted which has been fought over for sometime, in 2021 the Supreme Ct. refused to even hear a new challenge(but kept from public view?) maybe because it's the issue where equality and the equal protection clause don't count but clinging to gender stereotypes does?...
