Saga of a Classic Mercedes with Cadillac Fins

The wife and I were out doing our four rounds of walking around the hotel when we spotted this "creature" in the back parking lot. I took a few pictures of it, and just a bit ago, I went searching to see if I could find anything on it. My pictures show this as a hardtop, so I suspect it has a top that retracts in some way. The story online states that it was "modified" in Portland, OR, so I guess that is why we got to see it.

Ha, reminds me of something similar to this. Google 78,9 Chevrolet. It would be nifty to have one, kinda like having a Boss Hoss motorcycle would be but just a little out of my budget till I win the lottery. Thanks for posting.
