iPhone is about as versatile and useful as a brick, Samsung captivate FTW:thumbup3: Their has been legislation introduced trying to make it illegal to root your phone, the basis for that is that you are agreeing to a usage license you don't actual own the OS installed on the hardware.. with apple and winmobile at any rate. Andoid OS is distibuted under the GNU GPL free license agreement, carriers forbidding rooting of android OS would be a violation of android OS's free distribution license whicg they have agreed to. So to discourage you from doing it they void your warranty if you choose to do so. I897JF7 has been released but I am not updating from JH6 till designgears or cyanogenmod patch the kernel to repair the removal of the USB tether. Shouldn't be too long for that one, in the mean time other than the long lock time for GPS once locked I have had no issues with GPS accuracy or loss of lock once it's running. Yeah yeah yeah I know I am supposed to pay for tethering they can get bent on that one too, I pay for 2gigs on my data package it's my 2 gigs to use as I want, I don't use tethering more than 5 or 6 times a year and it's usually to VPN into my work network from my laptop to fix a problem when I am away from home. Before I made my first phone call or installed my first app I rooted my phone then enabled non market app's AT&T can get bent it's my hardware and my OS under redistribution terms they had to agree to for the android OS. I pay for a PAP to cover damage loss or replacement of my phone I don't need their damn warranty or insurance.
