USPS needs to be federally funded completely or privatized completely. The 1970 Postal Reorganization act tried to make them private and self supporting but they still have enormous government regulations prohibiting them from doing some things.
They are in need of a massive reorganization and there is absolutely no need for 6 day per week delivery. This has been a discussion topic for many years but cowards are afraid to make the decision once and for all. If privatized you can bet it will be cheaper to send stuff to large metro areas and a lot more expensive to send to outlying areas. I’m thinking Trump should appoint me to change it. Make USPS great again.
