Yes, it stays on when I'm carrying, but the battery in the optic is rated for somewhere around 45,000 hours of use so I'm not worried about it dying on me. If you're worried about battery life, you can always buy a Holoson with a solar charging panel. You also have a choice of optic colors, either red or green.
