I used a 10 MOA base from LaRue...excellent quality but you pay for it.

Are you understanding why you need an elevated base? It's there to make up for lack of top end adjustment in your scope. Like moboost said, a 20 MOA base would serve you well. However, I would recommend understanding why you need the base.

well im trying to see if id need the moa base or moa rings

Yes sir. Try to get the lowest rings you can without hitting your barrel with your scope.

I've used medium rings with a 40mm scope and had plenty of clearance.

20 MOA one piece base and low or ultra low rings. Seekins, badger ordnance and griffin armament make great rings. I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I have experience with.

Will that allow a flip cover for the objective? And keep it off the barrel
