SDS Knifeworks

When I started the PD back in 79 we had a retiree making knives named George Englebretson. I accumulated a dozen or so. George passed away a decade or so ago. I worked with Shawn Shropshire of SDS on the police department as well. I learned he was making knives using similar patterns as George. I believe he even ended up with some of Georges patterns. I started buying from Shawn several years ago and I am a huge fan. Shawn recently won a Forged in fire episode that aired 12-19. Here is his website: http://www.sdsknifeworks.com

I like them. I am particularly impressed with the sheaths. They certainly don’t look like an afterthought.

Shawn hand makes it all. Sheaths blades and handles. The knife on the right of the side by side picture is a knife he made from an old plow disc. Here is a two knife set for my son with a skinner and caping knife that gets annual use. Both are held in a single flap

scabbard.
