Service 4WD message

My daughter sent me this. Any of you pros know what might be the cause?

2020 Yukon awd
73,500 miles
She’s kept it in auto and not 2wd

Thought I would start here for help with diagnosing.

This is why I bought an manually actuated 4WD truck!

Just a quick Google and didn't read the articles but looks like it must common in Yukons and trucks both during that 2-3 year period.

I’ve seen some earlier models having issues around the actuators and the switch.

Sounds crazy but mine will do that when it’s low on brake fluid.
Also, is it an automated message based on mileage?

Why are you losing brake fluid?

It might make sense if you have traction control that uses your brakes.

If she has been driving in the rain, something electrical may have gotten wet. I would start by scanning it for stored codes. Gears Magazine - The "Service 4WD" Wiggle

Not sure. I don’t seen any leaks but it gets low every couple years.

My Durango did that, took it and and said it was a bad shift motor. Picked it up and could tell it was still locked in AWD and would not shift into low. Took it back and then said it was the computer, seems ok now. Not sure of the cost as it only cost me $100, good thing for the 1,000,000 30 year warrenty!

I have had the same problem and same situation as @dlbleak on my 2015. I keep mine in 2wd high at all times unless I need 4wd, and keep my brake fluid full. Haven’t had another incident.

Not sure. I don’t seen any leaks but it gets low every couple years.

Normal brake pad wear will cause the brake fluid to drop. The thinner the brake pad the more the caliper piston extends which drops the fluid in the reservoir. I’m having her check that.
