It's not about the selfish act, it's those they leave behind that could use a little sympathy instead of stupid attempts at sarcasm.

You should be proud of yourself. I doubt anyone else is.

What place? Safety First is a well ran, air conditioned, air filtered range that has an owner that actually shoots. Apparently someone decided to take their own life there today. A tragedy for the family and I'm sure a traumatic experience for Mitch. Lead poisoning? Really? I doubt this guy's family is finding much humor in the situation.

So well ran they were easily broken into a few months back and the crooks spent all but a minute or less to steal several guns because the owner didn't bother to lock the guns up in any type of safe at the end of the day. I tried very diplomatically to have a professional conversation with them when it happened and they lost their temper and blocked me from their social media sites, so you could imagine my opinion on them at this point. They were whining about lost revenue on the news, but that was hardly the most important takeaway from what happened. I'm still waiting to see what crime those stolen ARs end up being used in. There was a thread on this a while ago, about gun owner responsibilities. My view may not be popular, but it doesn't have to be. All I know is there wouldn't be several stolen guns running around in the hands of ballsy criminals if they had invested in a better door system or at least a damn gun safe. Are crooks ultimately the one to point fingers at as the bad guys? Yes, but I still lock my guns up at night as it is just common sense.

But I digress.
I'll be reserving further comment til all the facts of what happened are in, because IF it was a rented gun to boot, it'll leave another black eye for that place and the people running it.
Traumatic for the owners? Yes of course. I hope they enjoy a cold one tonight and drown their sorrows.
But that's why you need to cross every t and dot every i along the way to minimize this nonsense when you're in the gun business.

We are all entitled to our opinions, at least for now. I'm sure a fine internet opinionated person like yourself would have noted the individual had suicidal tendencies and taken the appropriate action. Where is your range or gun shop so that we can visit and see perfection in action?

I'm a little surprised by some of the comments. This is a tragedy that we don't need in the pro gun community. Local gun shops and ranges need our support; especially during an incident like this. Frankly, I'm disgusted by the selfish act that not only hurts the family left behind but also causes damage to a place we need.

I wouldn't dare to OWN something with so much liability. But I did WORK on base in the gun part of the bx for a while in college, you can go there if you're qualified and you genuinely want to see "perfection in action." Everything on display gets locked up every night in a vault as big as a garage and all 1000+ guns are hand counted. We wouldn't sell to anyone asking the wrong questions or giving the wrong answers to our questions, we took pride in our work and felt it was a big responsibility, particularly after they allowed you to buy ammo and guns at the same time and didn't require an escort off base. Nobody wants to be the guy who sells a gun to someone crazy who does something horrible with it, and while there is no fool proof system, you can bet your ass I wouldn't sell anything to someone acting off. I engaged everyone in conversation and gauged their behavior. I'm not a medical professional and of course a sociopath could've breezed through that, but there wasn't one person I handed a gun to that I didn't know a little about. And again, maybe the kid behind the counter asked the right questions IF indeed this gun was rented, nobody knows right now.

I grew up being told if you can't do something right, don't do it at all until you can. They did it right, this place hasn't.

I don't even go to ranges anymore. Too many crazy people there, never know when someone might lose their head.

No doubt. A few years back when the suicide happened H&H it left a big uncertainty in the air about what if anything, could be the fallout law wise.

I had no problem supporting the people at H&H, they're good people. And it turned out they did everything in their power to prevent that, and maybe these guys did too. I understand there's only so much one can do. But I don't blindly support any gun related shop or range just for the sake of the cause.
