The 226 has a longer barrel and grip. Other than that, I think they're pretty much identical.

Can't help on whether a Legion is worth it. They do seem nice though.

they are like the Glock 17 and 19 size wise lol. I’ve had 3 legions. Pretty nice pistols. Only owned the sao versions, no da/sa for me. Solid gun if you get them at a good price, say $800-1000 range. I’d pass if I had to pay retail.

I wouldn’t choose a P229 over a P226 anymore. The P229 is still a large gun compared to modern polymer striker guns. I have a P228 (the predecessor to the P229) - 9mm only, where the P229’s beefed up slide can be had in .40 and .357 also.

I bought mine to carry, but quickly retired it for smaller lighter guns. If you don’t need it to be smaller, I’d get the larger P226.

I owned a 228 for about 20 years and had several 229’s (9 and 40) pass through my safe but never a 226. I’ve shot a few friends 226’s, so I’m not unfamiliar with that model.

I like Sig guns, and if I had to choose between getting a 229 or 226 right now, it would be a 229 hands down. I have no use for a 9mm and bigger or heavier than a 229.

If you're going DA/SA, I might agree.
If you want SAO, it's the cost of admission and worth it.

The slide on the P229 is blackened stainless steel, so if corrosion resistance is important to you, there’s that.
