So I picked up a 73 winchester model 94 in 30-30 earlier this year. I like it, but man, with my astigmatism I really struggle with the iron sights. I'm wanting to try something different, without molesting the aesthetics of the classic lever action. Its a top eject, rather than an angle eject, which means I need it drilled and tapped if I want to install some skinner peep or XS ghost ring sights on it. Both of which I think would work well, and wouldnt detract from the classic look too much. Any other options? What do you guys use? Suggestions on a good gunsmith to do this, and any idea how much it should cost me?
