Just for fun, I shot some of my. Grandpas old 'Western' .22 ammo that was purchased (probably) in the 70's. Had TG&Y price sticker on or for $0.17

Shot it last year and it went 50/50

I also shot bulk .45 that my Dad had from when he entered the Military (60's). Same thing, shot 100% (except for the occasional 1911 malfunction, lol)


Both were stored loose in an attic for decades.

$0.17 would be before 1970. I was buying .22LR at Otasco in 1970 for $0.50 on sale, usually $0.59 to $0.65 depending on brand.
I have shot several types of ammo from '60s and '70s stored in the closet in factory boxes with no problems.
Surplus ammo from WWII still shows occasionally and it shoots just fine.
