I'd guess it's to keep the lawyers happy. I really would like to see one of these Shields in person.

There are some great comparison pictures (8 or 9 different compact autos compared to the new m&p) on the second page of the linked thread to sig forum. Nice link!

Probably depends on the size of your pockets and type of pants. I am certain I can fit the Shield into my tactical pants side pockets but doubt that it would work as well in my regular jeans pockets. I find that guns the size of the TCP-709 and KAHR CW9 are not true "pocket pistols" for me but they are very slim concealed carry pistols.

I don't wear tight pants but I am not large and am slim so bulky stuff doesn't work well in regular wear clothing for me.
