SKS stock refinish

So I found a spare stock for my SKS and decided it was the perfect opportunity to dress up the ol gal. The original # matching stock and handguard is put back and being left unmodified. I sanded, stained, and finished the stock. I went over the final coat of finish with 0000 steel wool to knock the shine off and make it look more like the original military finish.

Where did you get the the upper piece over the gas tube? i would like to get one for mine.

You can get them from lots of places, google sks heat shield... Amazon even sells them

Got mine from eBay. Search for red bird sks. They are still listed.
