This is what I was talking about. I think that specific plate is called the ferrule or something.

I've tried and it doesn't seem to want to budge. What tool would I need? A rubber mallet?

Hey bud I just looked at mine, either a) the sks is not seated in the stock far enough backo or b) that has moved and you need to remove it and move it. It is attached to the receiver so I between the barrel and gas tube you can see a pin you would need to remove the pin slide it backwards and re pin it.

How can I remove the pin? Using a thin punch?
