What’s the point of forcing someone to utter words they don’t ascribe to? The point of an oath is to bind a person to their words, values, and duty....not virtue signal to your specific religion.

Military Oaths have been Swear (So help me God) or Affirm (no so help me God) since the Apple Tree was cut down by 'Ol George in 1734.

Of all the Commissions, Promotions, Enlistments and Re-Enlistments I performed over 25 years I only recall the topic of "So help me God" coming up a few times and believe it or not these were devoutly Christian men that perceived it disrespectful and chose to Affirm.

Reading the current news of various individuals lying to the FBI, Congress, Special Council, etc. I don't think this rule change will do much to bring down the nation. Nothing to see here, there are bigger issues to expend your energy on.

This issue tears at the very fabric of this nation. This issue after being reported in the news has resulted in one of the biggest hue and cry the house of retards has ever seen.

They decided to try it in one of the lesser committees to see if it would fly under the radar and just become one of the various nonsensical things taken up by congress. They received so much flack and feedback over this they "corrected" their amendment today trying to get rid of the clause.

Your view of this has all the earmarks of this congress almost getting away with it. These former FBI officials and justice dept officials are counting on people like you to not observe and take action against their misdeeds. Lackadaisical attitudes like this has led us down the road to abortion, prayer out of schools, participation trophies, etc.

What I really like about all of this is that one day in the future Nancy Pelosi, RBG, HRC etc have to stand in front of Jesus and face the consequences of their actions.

Of course we will all have this same meeting, it's just that mine and many others meeting with Christ will be a lot more friendly.

You do recognize that the oath for the President and others does not have that wording...

And the Constitution, the one that has the 2A, also has the First Admendment

I don't like the idea of the change, but the Constitution was written for everyone.

In reality, what the politicians say and what they do are two different things. Which is what always amazes me that they can threaten action against anyone testifying untruthfully, but they don't seem to want to apply the same standard to their oath, whether they say "So help me God" or not.
