I have a placard but don't use it unless I am really hurting and have to be out for some reason. There are so many people in this world who have it so much worse than I do ... And like Aries said, you can't always tell by looking. One day I was at Sam's picking up a prescription so I could give myself a toradol injection -- had a HORRID migraine. The kind where I couldn't see out of one eye and the other was really blurry. I got lucky and there was an empty handicapped spot so I pulled in, hung my placard up, locked the car up and went inside. I heard a bunch of honking but was singularly focused on getting in and out so didn't pay any attention. I was halfway to the pharmacy when someone rammed me with their cart and was screaming at me about "stealing" their parking space. Now, mind you, I didn't see anyone coming towards me when I turned into the parking space and honestly don't know if anyone was behind me or not. But apparently I had wronged this couple horribly. They were both going on (VERY loudly) about how I wasn't handicapped and I "stole their parking spot" and they were gonna have me arrested. Several Sam's employees came over and got between this couple and me (thank goodness), took me back to the pharmacy, helped me get my Rx and escorted me back out to my car, apologizing profusely all the while. I have no complaints about how the employees handled the situation. They did the best they could, given the fact that the couple were still screaming and yelling as I was sliding out the exit doors to go home. I was REALLY glad to be leaving. Lol Something I've never understood about that whole thing -- these 2 people had to park, then come in the store and find me. Now, I wasn't running like my ass was on fire, but I wasn't taking a leisurely stroll either because I was planning on getting my stuff and slipping into the ladies' room to give myself my injection and then heading home. But because of what happened I had to wait until I got home to take my shot. I talked to one of the Sam's employees a few days later when I went back to get some shopping done and she said they had to threaten to call OCPD to get the couple to leave the store. What neither of us could figure out was how they could be so angry at me for "not being handicapped" when they must have literally RAN into the store in their attempt to find me. Neither of them looked handicapped. 🤷🤷 But I don't know their story so ... 🤷🤷🤷 I didn't use my placard much before that incident but I really don't use it at all now if I can avoid it. (Now I just send Grumpy. 😉😁😇)
