I had a beard and mustache for about 8 years (got tired of finding facial hair in my food). I shaved it off one night before I went to bed. My daughter was just old enough to have been walking for a while, and had never seen me without a beard. We didn't know it at the time, but her eyesight was pretty bad and she couldn't really see much detail in faces. She wandered into the bedroom the next morning, stood on her tippy-toes and looked over the side of the bed at me. I looked back at her, and her eyes just slowly got bigger and bigger like, "Who are you, and why are you in my mommy's bed?!" I said something to her and she recognized my voice, and her eyes just slowly went back to normal size, and she turned and walked out without saying a word. It was pretty funny, especially when we found out later that her eyesight was bad. She just saw a face that wasn't half dark and didn't know who it was until she heard my voice. Poor girl! :rollingla
