Went to a family event today and a bunch of my wife's uncles were talking about duck hunting so I started talking with them and the proposed ban came up. All of sudden I found myself a one-man show defending the right for law-abiding citizens to own "assault-style weapons and high-capacity clips". I had to quickly stop talking as it became painfully aware I was not going to make a lick of headway. They said why do you need a high-capacity clip, why do you need an assault rifle? to which I replied- Targetr shooting, hog hunting, they are fun to shoot. I then asked then why do they need to go duck hunting? because they want to, not because they need to. Then one of them said that Newtown would have only been a couple of kids had the guy not been armed with an assault rifle. That was the point that I just walked away. You can't argue with stupidity. He could have done the same kind of damage if he had a damn .22. I also told him that the .223 round is better for hoe defense because they break up going through walls, as opposed to handgun rounds which dont. It was a lost cause. Pretty irritatated that these guys would rather give up their own rights than to stand up for them. It is truly a shame.
