Hey there
Of all the different new ammo for the short brl revolvers in .38 spcl what is your thoughts on the following:
Speer Short brl 135 gr GDHP
Federal 110 Nyclad
Hornady DPX(I think that is it with the red insert for expansion)
Federal Personal Defense Hydra Shok reduced recoil.

Thanks

Having played around with the Federal Hydra Shok and the Speer 135gr SB .38, I don't see any problems with either.
They both went bang every time (criterion #1).
I chose the SB GD at 860 fps (measured by me) out of a 442 because it expanded so consistently in any critter I shot.

After shooting the GD loads in .45, .40, 9mm, .357, and .38, I'm beginning to sound like a commercial, maybe because I remember the bad old days when available hollowpoints expanded seemingly at random when and if they hit just right.

The Nyclad is 125gr I believe, not 110.

In my opinion the Speer 135gr short barrel Gold Dot is the best defensive round out of a .38 snubbie.

JP should be along any minute now to tell you to check the new Hornady Critical Defense rounds.
I have no experience with that round.

My allow frame model 37 is loaded with the Nyclad round.
