Do not attend without bringing your rifle or pistol with about 200 rounds of ammo! If you don't have a rifle, I have one built for one purpose and that is to loan to new shooters using the same platform the experienced shooters use. Most use .22 pistol, .22 rifle or centerfire pistol. If the shooter is using iron sights, you will only compete against those with iron sights, same with optics. The optics shooters only compete against the optics shooters. Puts everything on an even plane. You will notice in the scores posted things like RFRO which is rimfire rifle optics. RFPO is rimfire pistol optics. RFI is rimfire iron sights. The best shooters out there had to start somewhere and most ended up in last place on their first match. I certainly did. The folks in the squad will know who is the new shooter and you will get to to be last in the rotation all day so you can see what is going on before your turn. Constructive strategy will be given if asked willingly by everyone. Don't be intimidated by your first time performance when you see the experienced shooters for the first time. They have thousands of rounds shot and know the drill. It takes just a couple of matches to find yourself mid pack and moving up. You learn how to shoot with pressure. It's amazing how much pressure that little beep of the timer makes some go all nervous. You will learn to shoot quickly, shoot accurately quickly, clear malfunctions quickly, all while keeping your mind in the game. That comes with time.
