Predatory loans, legally run by big banking systems, are THE problem and will not go away without major reforms. Not happening without a complete collapse. The plans for digital currency will give the predators more control. When granddaughter started college, we were moving her into the dorm. Between the parking lot and dorm, several tables were set up with credit card companies, applications and very pushy, hard sell, cons. They were blocking those poor kids and following them to the doors. A look from me and left us alone. A told several of the girls, in the dorm, about a boy I knew. He had run into the same thing, when we started school. He had walked past and turned away a dozen or more of the scum suckered. As he took the last load in, it was a hot August afternoon, he was hot, tired, thirsty and the table closest to the door was giving a 2-liter Coke to fill out the application. He justified the card, FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY. Emergency turned out to be pizza delivery, a pitcher beer, a date, whatever. He figured the interest before finally getting rid of that card. That FREE Coke cost him about $10k.
