There is an underlying issue here, laziness. Many of the current programs were started in a very different time with a very different mindset. Let's look at the start of many of these programs back in 1933. The industrial revolution was in full swing, a new influx of immigrants had arrived in America from 1895-1923 and production and growth were at an all time high. In 1929 the financial system had a massive correction with the stock market crash resulting in general ruin of the quality of life. Roosevelt introduced many new programs to assist Americans to get back on their feet. Their attitude was one of desire to make it on their own. To do well, live free of the government and not take hand outs. My grandmother remembers her parents being ashamed of taking hand outs and were happy to turn them down as soon as her dad got work. Fast forward to today, there are several generations of "poor" Americans who were raised learning how to get their government check. Being taught that school is Bias towards a certain class/color/type of person. I remember school, the teacher taught the same lessons to all kids, some chose to sit in front of the class and listen, others chose to sit in back and make fun of everyone else. The result, some learned and progressed, others are now in Jail blaming society instead of themselves for making bad decisions. I have no problems with the entitlement programs that exist or those who use those programs. My issue: Parents who are too lazy to look for a job and would rather just collect a check parents who teach their children the world is stacked against them Parents who bias their children against a certain color/class/group of people Unemployment is ment to get you by until you can find another job either full time or part time. Either of the same/greater/lesser level. I worked for 10 years in upper management, but in a minute I'd work at QT if I needed to take care of my family. WIC is to get the basics to support young children and their new moms. Don't keep having kids just to keep getting their check. Food Stamps/Access cards are to help augment a low level income, not to sell/trade for cash for drugs or the casino. I do believe that if you accept government assistance funds, you open yourself up to higher standards of living/ drug tests/ spending tracking. Everyone likes to say tax the rich, you aren't rich when 50% of your income goes back to the government to support those who are too lazy to work and make a difference. What I can't understand is how many people can't understand math.. There are close to 313 Million people in the USA, If all able bodied men and women held any available job and paid their "fair" share of taxes at the current tax rates, we would be a fully funded country and resume our status as the most powerful nation on the globe. If the GSA would enact a rule to only do business with companies who made products with American workers, we would see our working class expand and put more of those 313 million in steady jobs. Math is simple and a variety of equations give you the same answer. The best for America is to get more people working and quick taking for those who are currently working. I'm a small business owner, people see my life style but don't see the work, hours or sacrifice I've given to build my business. You want me to pay more of the money I work so hard to make because others are too lazy to work them self. Like my grandfather always said, "The world needs ditch diggers too"
