Okay I am in Osage County and have a letter telling me the tax folks are going to issue a warrant for not paying personal property taxes, from 2010. Now first thing is, I am sure they have been paid, so this is a real thorn in my side. Yet when I asked to have the tax bill checked to see if it is correct I got the reply that it is, pay up or we will issue a sheriff's warrant. Does anyone have an idea where I can find information on this? I have been googling since Friday. I would like to see if I have a way to challenge the tax bill. We have been trying to find anything that shows 2010 was paid but since we have a massive amount of papers to dig through it is a mess. Plus many of them got wet a couple of years ago when a storm pulled part of my roof off. Oh yeah they still charged me taxes on the roof that was in the yard. The county says I owe $210 (for the 2010 year) and then $214 in penalties, I do not have that kind of money and tax time for this year is coming up soon. Any help, just pointing me in a direction would be greatly appreciated. I am thinking that after 25 years of paying personal property taxes I have paid more in taxes than the items cost me new, but if I dont pay the taxes/rent/extortion they will take what few things I have left and sell them to pay this bill. Now tomorrow when my nurse comes to check on me and my blood pressure is high a lot of it is due to things like this. She will also ask about stress, yep plenty of it to go around. :) Thanks for any help, David.
