So...welcome to both OSA and this theater...new operator. Anyway, your post is nice an all but it doesn't really prove anything about reliability. I like and have carried a 1911 too...and yes, even while going in harm's way. However, I have evolved, equipment and weapons have as well, and so have a lot of other people and things. Given my choice of available handguns today for civilian use, (CCW) give me a Glock 19. If I were to have to select a handgun for carry as a sidearm in a combat situation, I'd take ... you guessed it! A Glock 19! Now, I surely as the sun does shine for certain in the name of our Sweet Baby Jesus love me some 1911 goodness, I surely do; but if I have to crawl through the surf zone or slither on my belly liken unto he that be as a reptile, in the muddy swamps, give me not a slick triggered single action 1911, cocked and locked, nay sayeth I! Nay! Instead, I beg that you provideth me with a plastic wunderpistolen bedecked out as a stock Glock 19 . Now, this is of course just my two cents, but you know something? I bet I'm right.
