I hung up the traditional pliers the other day and am using the Multitasker exclusively for the time being. I've used it in the traditional sense for my ARs but I'm going to out the billet D2 pliers to task here in the shop.

I use the leatherman sidekick, it has everything I need in a general purpose multi-tool and is affordable.
Spring activated pliers, can opener, side-lock for the knife(which was razor sharp out of the box) and saw(outside tools), and great retention for the inside tools.
It even comes with a weird looking biner(with some additional "features") and a soft leather case so you can hang it on the outside of a pack/bag.
