All that stuff between him and Carl in the first season? Made people like him. It was meant to show how people are the real enemy and even those you thought were close to you in 'normal' times would turn, but it backfired, and instead they had a sympathetic character who just happened to beat the hell out of people on a whim. Then, they couldn't just turn around and make him all crazy all of a sudden, 'cause at that point it wouldn't be believable so instead they had to show him descending totally into madness. The entire second season was setting up his character's death, from first to last, after they had already set it up in the first few episodes but went nowhere with it.</p><p></p><p>Now why would they set it up, exactly as in the comic, and then spend a whole other season after they have clearly established a motive and a will, to tear him down and make him less likable? </p><p></p><p>So, I'm pretty sure that was the case.</p></blockquote><p></p>
