Back in the early 90's, I worked at a state prison in my hometown of Childress, Texas just 30 miles from Hollis. I remember one time, the State Game warden took the prison warden, asst warden and others on a hog hunt out south of town. They were hunting from a helicopter, shooting the largest of the herds and allowing the ground crew (which included some inmates for muscle) to pick them up and load them in stock trailers. They hauled them back to the prison, slaughtered them out behind the kitchen and cooked them up. They had enough to feed the whole unit of about 1300 inmates, for several days. That was the best those inmates ever ate from that kitchen! There's always been a lot of hogs in that area.
