Never needed 4 wheel drive and have driven in snow, ice and mud in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, etc. It might have been nice a couple times; but most times not needed. Most of the people driving around in 4X4 pickups and Jeeps never leave pavement. To me 4 wheel drive is just something else to go wrong and maintain. My mileage varies from Swampratt in regards to Chevy rear ends. Never had one fail. Did have 1979 Chevy company truck that the carrier bearing went out with less than 5,000 miles and dealership blamed driving through mud! Had to laugh in their face.
