In the Marines, if you were in for so many years, you pretty much had to take on what's known as a "B" billet job as a temporary assignment. Usually that consisted of either being a Drill Instructor or a Recruiter.
If I would have stayed in long enough, there is no doubt I would have done whatever it took to be a Drill Instructor. Recruiters work from a quota and they are heavily stressed out to make their numbers. I'm a pretty good salesman, but I'd not take any pleasure in trying to convince young men and women to join the Marines if it were not in their makeup and hearts to do so in the first place.
