I'd be careful if you plan on using it for any wood prep - there are lots of reports of busted fiber-glass handles on Sog Tomahawks when folks try to actually use them for wood-craft (especially in the cold). Their warranty department is known for giving you the cold shoulder as well.

I've never heard that. I'll stick it in the freezer and hack something.

If it had a different locking mechanism, maybe but with a frame lock, no way.

I'd probably be weary of using it solely for self-defense, but there's no way I'd use it for any sort of serious wood-craft. Plus, the ergos on that one seem pretty weird - axe-head is slightly obtuse to the handle and the curve seems to aggravate that angle even more.

I picked up a kukri a few years ago at the Norman medieval fair. Thing is a beast, I've abused the heck out of it and it keeps coming back for more.

I have always liked the design of the benchmade tomahawk. I just recently found the new Gerber Downrange. I would like to see some real world reviews cause it looks pretty handy.
