I go to a restaurant in town a few times a month and I almost feel like Norm in Cheers. I never order, they just bring me my drink and food. The waitresses there knows what I want and it is always hot and fresh. We also talk most of the time I am there about regular stuff going on in our lives.

These kind of workers are rare and they get rewarded for their great service.
What would happen if you ever wanted to change your order?

I think your hourly was a little higher than you think. If 1733 was your gross you'd need 240 hours to get there in a month. If net, you'd need even more.
It was 35 years ago and memory lets me down some now days , cnow that I think, I believe it was more like $1300 net or maybe that was gross?
But it doesnt really matter, it was not a lot and that is my point.

Our DIL works in the high-end restaurant business in the DFW area.
lf you tip on the card, the restaurant deducts taxes from the tips before paying the server.
Just like wages which tips are.
So, we always cash tip, then pay on the card for the meal. I only tip for the food cost. Not the liquor tax, nor the sales tax. I don't tip the government for stealing my money.
You have to really screw up to get less than 20% from us in Oklahoma.
Socialist states though have increased the minimum wage for even servers in restaurants.
Colorado has raised it to over $13 an hour. Commiefornika is trying to go to $20 an hour.
I worked a lot of jobs for less than that minimum wage and did not get a single tip, having to make do with what showed up on the paycheck.
Joe's Crab Shack really pissed us off one evening. We had just finished the all-you-can-eat crab meal for four people and the service was atrocious. You almost had to pop smoke to get anyone's attention for more crab. I still say this is by design to keep you from eating over their profit margin.

When it was time to pay the bill I gave the waitress our card and she came back with an automatic 50% tip added. I RAISED HELL! THey said that was their policy and if I contested it they would take it off but it would be ten days before I saw it on my CC statement. Again, I RAISED HELL! I told everyone in there eating what had just happened and the people outside walking in. Some got up from the table and the people outside left.

Joes took my money and had access to it over ten days for free before paying it back.

Free money loans from unsuspecting people and what about those who never noticed and keeping their money?

Every time I think about it I get pissed!

Not to derail this thread but that is just something I do not understand. I go to any store and buy something and it credits my card immediately. Yet when I return something to the same store it takes up to ten days.

Makes ZERO sense.

Think about it.

It is purely a financial scam. They can blame the communication between retail and accounting for causing the delay. In fact, they are using your money to do short term investments without having to pay interest to you.
