I have worked on and off for Sonic since 2008 total of almost 3 years. It is fast food but easy cooking and was fun to work at. I worked for corporate and franchise stores, about the same really. So during the pandemic they got sold, no longer an Oklahoma company now. I went back last November to one of my old stores to cook. The new company is squeezing every penny out of each store they can. They are trying to do only online orders, some are getting ride of stalls entirely. But let me get back to the thing about tipping. So I made X per hour, corporate store, the car hops make a dollar less then I did, but get tips. As I said the are squeezing money out, so most mornings it was me and my General Manager and no car hop. So she makes salary, food cost bonus, labor bonus and get all the tips for the morning. Then you had other people come in usually Assistant Mangers or "shift leader" and they would car hop. These people made at least 5 bucks an hour more than me and got tips. I am in the back sweating, getting burned while everyone is on their phone while I make substantially less money than everyone else in that place. Plus my GM really thought us cooks were overpaid, what a kick in the scrotum that statement was. I got a really good income tax return and left. I wouldn't urinate on a Sonic if it was on fire,  But that is just me.</p></blockquote><p></p>
