I got 6 of them yesterday.
4 Buff Orpingtons and 2 sexlinks or reds.
2 of the Buff's will be meat birds.. I kind of think I should have more meat birds.. but I never raised meat birds.

Should be easy and short lived :)

Wife got 8 red sexlinks last year and they lay 6 to 8 eggs a day and have all winter! Nice large size brown eggs with great flavor.

The sexlinks we got last year are laying all the time also.
But if I let the birds forage in my yard they fill up on something besides their food and then one will take a day off on laying.

Keep them shut up in the coop and they are quieter and lay all the time.
Start letting them out and they get bitchy until you let them out ..then bitchy when one needs to lay an egg, so I have to round up the other birds and stick them all back into the coop.

easier to leave them in there. My yard isn't "bug" enough anyway
