I would use a coulple bills to test barrel clearance before taking drastic measures.
Did the groups open up crazy or did the point of impact shift. After the bills test, I would yank the comp off and screw the thread protector back on to test before going drastic with the stock.

I think you're right. No rhyme or reason to the groups. Going to really look over the stock. Taking it off and see if somethings obviously wrong. If not, pop off the comp and see i that's it.
Still can't put the comp at the top of the list.
If your gun hates the comp i know a guy that might be interested in it.
