[QUOTE="trade_sniper, post: 1452253, member: 640"] I wasn't planning on only fixing the reverse problem. This transmission is actually newly rebuilt. The guy I bought the truck from two months ago got a trans for it from some 'mechanic' on ebay. It didn't shift into overdrive when I bought it (previous owner never realized this). First gear would rev to about 3500-4000rpms before it would shift into second, etc. It had the wrong tv cable in it, I replaced it with the right one from GM. I had to drop the valve body, it had too many check balls in it, then the overdrive valve was sticking so I replaced it with one that has a helper spring, checked the accumulators and governor. Now all forward gears shift great, nice and firm and at the right time/rpm/load. But reverse started to shudder and now will barely backup. I want an overhaul done right. But I don't want to pay $1000 when the parts are only a couple hundred and I'm pulling it and putting it back in myself. DPI: Thanks. I'll give him a call. I used to have an old guy like that, old drag racer who was a master with recurving distributors, carbs, mechanical fuel injection (built his own) and transmissions. He doesn't do it anymore.
