Message: <blockquote data-quote="dru" data-source="post: 1948943" data-attributes="member: 3047">My garage door opener refuses to open or close as long as the door is connected (it is a Genie with that screw drive).  anyway, if you hit the button, you can hear the motor humming, but the screw doesn't turn.  If you disengage the door from the screw, then the screw and motor turn normally.  The door moves in the tracks freely, everything looks to be greased pretty well.Actually, the door will close partially but when its about 2/3 of the way down it jams up and the screw stops turning and the door stops moving.  Is this something I just need to buy a new opener for or is there maybe something else that I'm not aware of?</blockquote>
