I belong to a union where I work. It is pretty much worthless. I am also the shop steward for my department. That is pretty sad when I am saying that. No one is willing to strike to try and keep the company from taking everything from us. I am a republican but I also know where I work that if we didn't have a union I wouldn't have my job right now. They at least can get it where it is hard for the company to fire us. But I agree of how the unions were praising Obama and hoping that he would win the election. And now look how things are going. I knew it would happen. And still my union president still praises Obama like he is the greatest president ever. He actually had the nerve to say he might go down in history as the greatest we have ever had!! I still can't believe that came out of his mouth. If you guys knew what it is like to work where I do you would understand what I am talking about. I wish my union was stronger but it is only as strong as its membership. And most of our members don't want to get involved. We are fixing to have our contract come up and no one will even show up to a meeting. I know for a fact if my union wasn't around I would be making minimum wage and couldn't miss a day of work without being fired. I have never seen a place like where I work. It is almost like they want to fire their employees. But until I find something better I am stuck.
